BIO
Monika Grabuschnigg lives and works in Berlin. In her artistic practice she engages in themes such as longing, grief and melancholy. Processing domesticated and commodified objects (like clothing, home appliances, plants) into sculptures and installations, she explores the beliefs and desires that inform the fundamental understanding of our being.
Grabuschnigg’s work has been exhibited internationally: Mouches Volantes, Cologne (2023); Carbon 12, Dubai (2023); Anton Janizewski Galerie, Berlin (2022), Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Wien, (2022); Dock 20, Lustenau (2020-2021); Kunsthalle Wien (2020); Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Studioraum 45cbm, (2019); Brücke Museum, Berlin (2019) and forthcoming exhibitions include: Come Closer, Middelheim Museum, Antwerp (2024).
In 2020 and 2022, Grabuschnigg was awarded a grant of Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn. In 2018 she received the Berlin Art Prize. Her works are represented in international private collections and public institutions; including the State Museum Vorarlberg and the Graphic Collection of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.
